Cause Research
Deepen your understanding of a charitable cause.
Do you want to learn more about a cause that you care about?
When you educate yourself on the charitable causes that you care about, you gain agency, confidence, and effectiveness to make a profound difference.
Charitable causes are often complex. Whether it’s addressing homelessness in your city or the nationwide foster care crisis, sometimes good intentions can backfire. Other times, the best interventions are 100x more cost-effective than the least effective ones.
Our Impact Analysts have broad subject matter expertise and a set of processes to:
Map the current nonprofit ecosystem within a particular cause and place
Conduct a literature review to determine the evidence base of nonprofit interventions
Estimate the costs of solving complex social problems using the best data available
Distill recommendations and best practices for grant making in a particular cause area
Produce educational materials in a variety of media to educate you or a community that you are a part of
If you are passionate about a local or global charitable cause, ready to deepen your philanthropic involvement, and desire more knowledge, we recommend commissioning cause research. Contact us today to learn more.
WHO IS IT FOR?
Anyone who wants to become more deeply educated on a cause that they are passionate about.
Foundations or family offices working to develop a philanthropic thesis for their grantmaking in a particular cause area.
Giving circles who want materials to educate their community on a cause that they are supporting.
Networks of donors or philanthropists such as generosity ministries, donor-advised funds, or pooled giving funds.
WHAT YOU’LL RECEIVE
Our in-depth cause research can focus on a particular cause (such as education for vulnerable children) in a particular place (such as Memphis, TN). We use a systems-thinking approach to map the ecosystem affecting target populations. Then, we look for interventions that have evidence of efficacy. We review the current state of literature providing the evidence base for interventions.
The format of the deliverable varies for each client and may include a white paper, one-pager, slide deck, workshop, webinar, or video. We work with clients to determine what format is most appropriate for the educational materials.
